My what big teeth you have...

Henley had her first of many appointments with the dentist the other day. I hope it gets better because she was not a fan at all. While we were in the waiting room she had a blast playing and running around. However, the minute we walked to the back, she freaked out. The place is decked out like Santa's workshop with toys everywhere. Maybe that is what alarmed her that something was about to go down that she would not enjoy!

You are not brushing my teeth lady!

The first thing she got to do was pick out her own toothbrush. Henley is not into any television shoes or movies and has no interest in the TV at all. When they asked her, would you like a Dora toothbrush? Well, she started to cry? I know she hates to get her teeth brushed but, this reaction was uncalled for! They sat her up on the table and she was just screaming as if someone was hurting her. With all the screaming it was definitely easier to brush her teeth. I did not anticipate for her to act this crazy but, it could of been worse.

Having the dentist rake a look.

The good news is her teeth looked great. The bad news is she is missing two top teeth? This apparently is very common in children? There are supposed to be four front teeth on top...right? Well, she has only two front teeth and then her incisors. I had thought her teeth looked a little scarce but, never really gave it that much attention. Her top two teeth are so far apart that I honestly, never noticed. I always knew she would need orthodontics, so now it will just be more than I first thought. The dentist told me that there is a 50/50 chance that her permanent teeth could all be present but, they could not get an x-Ray. I could not sit with her either because of being pregnant. They just need to know by age three that her perament teeth are there and which ones may not be. This is something that is inherited but, nobody that we know of on either side of the family ever had this issue. Once we know about the permanent teeth we can move forward. If they are in deed missing, then we just start seeing an orthodontist earlier than most kids to monitor her teeth. When she gets older they just put on braces to shift everything forward. They do not do vaneers, bridges or anything like that. They want it to be natural teeth, so shifting everything forward is the best thing to do. Then they just file the teeth down to look normal across the front and you will never know the difference. The good part about this is, if her wisdom teeth come in she will have plenty of room for them!

Not so bad, picking out a toy!

Hopefully, this might not even be an issue. We just thought it was interesting...you learn something new everyday.

And then there were 3...

7 weeks old

Brian and I are so excited to finally announce that we are expecting our third child early next year! The cat has been out of the bag for awhile and those close to me have known since I was about three weeks along. However, being that I am 35 and considered advanced maternal age we wanted to wait until after my first trimester to share it with the world. We have many friends that keep up with us through our blog from college, work etc...that we do not talk to that often. So, if you did not know...now you do! :)

I am writing this on the end of a week that has been truly exhausting. I have had both kids with a stomach virus, a husband gone all week and parents that are endlessly out of town! There is definitely a lack of sleep from my end and I sit and ponder...this is only the beginning! Wait until there are three! Writing that just puts a smile on my face! Even though it has been rough and I know it will be that way for a few years, we could not be happier! The past two OB appointments I have had, they did ultrasounds to hear the heartbeat. I was only eleven weeks at my second appointment. I must say, it never gets old watching your baby on an ultrasound. What a little miracle God has given us...to start a new life! I was lying there and I could see the baby move it's arms! How crazy is it that at eleven weeks they are almost fully developed? All I could do is stare in amazement. It was as if this was the first pregnancy I have ever had. People keep asking me, do you read the books or is it just your third and no big deal. Well, I do not read the books because I would never have the time. I also know what to expect the third time around. However, I still look at weekly developments of the baby and what is going on inside. I am amazed by pregnancy and our bodies ability to do what it does in developing/sustaining a new life.

11 weeks old

The baby is due around early March but, if this pregnancy is anything like the last two it could be late Febuary. This time around has been 360 degrees different from the others! I had horrible sickness with the first two and this has been a breeze comparatively speaking. I have had some nausea, but nothing that is to terrible. The worst thing so far has been, low blood pressure. The heat plays a factor in that too. It just comes over me and I get very light headed and need to sit down. My doctor told me to try and drink plenty of fluids and I am trying to do that but, my goodness, as if you do not have to pee enough! That is really it with the symptoms. Oh, I almost forgot that I am utterly exhausted!

The one thing that we are doing to keep the excitement going is not finding out the sex this time. We have one of both so, we have everything we need. Besides, we want a little suspense in our lives. So, everyone start placing your bets! There are many people who think we will cave but, we won't! It will be hard, but a lot of fun! The only thing we want to know is that our baby is healthy! The big ultrasound is in five weeks and then we can relax and enjoy this pregnancy!

The kids are excited too. I have already had a request for a brother! How sweet is that? Henley loves babies so, I hope she still loves them when they do not leave her house? Well, we will see how the dynamics change in our home. Whatever the case may be, it will be challenging but, fun too. I pray everyday for more patience and understanding so, by the time there are three, I hope my prayers have been answered.

We will update you soon and keep us all in your prayers.
