Gene Pool

Well it is unfortunate that our poor daughter has more of my genes than her daddy! When I was a child I had so many ear infections and problems that I almost lost my hearing! Scary! My family probably thinks sometimes I do not hear them when in fact I am choosing to ignore them!:) Ha Ha

Anyhow, Henley has had over 6 ear infections in the past six months and our pediatrician kept telling me that I did not need to be referred to an ENT!? Well, this week I took matters in to my own hands and took Henley to a Pediatric ENT! I just wanted to be proactive and see a specialist especially with my history! Henley has continued to have ear infections that repeatedly come back with multiple antibiotics and our pediatrician kept telling me that only counted as one infection! I asked the ENT about it and he said, " if you go back in and see the doctor and get put on another antibiotic for an infection that has returned than that is another infection"! If that is the case than our poor baby has been in misery! Henley has just recently gotten over an ear infection and than after 10 days of antibiotics a week later she has another one! Ten more days of antibiotics and the ENT told me her ears looked bad still!!! Seriously?

They did a temponogram (checks for fluid behind the ears) and a hearing test yesterday. The test showed fluid behind both eardrums and her hearing was borderline normal. Normal range of hearing is 0-20 and Henley's was 20! The doctor said, that the fluid could be affecting her hearing so they recommended tubes!

I knew that she was headed down this road, but I did not expect them to tell me she needed them now! So to make a long story short this Monday she is going in to have tubes put in her ears! I know that it is a common and very easy procedure, but anytime a child is put under anesthesia it is scary! Please keep us all in your prayers and I will keep everyone posted after the surgery! I have been told that I will have a much happier child on my hands after she has the procedure and I can not wait! Maybe Miss Serious will no longer be Miss Serious??

Finally...Walking

13 months later we have a walker! We have been working with Henley for awhile, but she has had no interest in walking! Why would you be when you can get there quicker crawling or better yet carried by someone?

This past Friday we had a photo session with our photographer for her one year pictures! Then out of nowhere she just started walking! I mean she has taken three and four steps, but this was like ten or twelve. I do not think she knew what she was doing because she just kept going and going! Heather our photographer snapped some pictures, but I do not know what she got. We were all just laughing and could not believe what she had just done! It was like a light bilb went off in her head and she realized...oh this is what they have been trying to get me to do?

Now she is trying to walk everywhere and wants to be down on the ground all the time. We can tell she is getting frutrated because I do not think she wants to walk, but run after her brother! I think that is one of the problems, she tries to go too fast! Anyway, here is some video of her walking!

Peek-A-Boo

I absolutely love to watch the kids play with eachother after bath time. Tonight I went and got the video recorder and tried to get some footage of them! They had been in hysterics, but I missed it so here is what I did get! Henley loves to play this game and has gotten pretty good at it! Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!!!

O.K. this post is going to be as short as possible. Friday night my family came over to eat dinner and carve pumpkins with the children! My parents took the kids to this Pumpkin Patch in Harpersville called Baker's Farm. They came back with MORE pumpkins and we seriously had 5 pumpkins! We needed a lot of hands to carve that many pumpkins! That was a fun night and after emptying all those pumpkins....we carved ONE!:) Oh well! A for effort! Children do not work very well on a schedule as you all probably know!

Halloween night is crazy! I know I say it every year, but the holidays around Liberty Park are absolutely crazy exciting! There are so many kids out here, it is like a freaking circus! I love it! Kids, Adults, yummy beverages, golf carts and wagons everywhere! We always start out at our friends house the Copeland's for chili and drinks. Around 6pm we head out to start trick or treating! The kids run all over the place as we the parents try not to loose track of them in the chaos! Christian was into the trick or treating last year, but wow this year he is obsessed with the candy! Candy, Candy and more candy! Can I have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Ah..how many times can you tell a little person no before it sinks into their tiny brain?

I pushed Henley in her car around the neighborhood because she is still not a fan of walking! Why would she be when someone can carry her around and give her what she wants all the time? Who needs to walk??? She took turns with me or being with Brian on the golf cart. We took her up to a few doors, but wow that gets old quick! Mostly she just people watched and ate candy! I think she thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

After everybody was tired of the trick or treating we all went back to a friend's house to a party. Their was a incredible spread of food and the beverages were flowing! All the children were in the basement playing and so high on sugar that I think they could of stayed up until midnight! If you can believe that Henley was even having a great time without mommy right on top of her! I finally told Brian that around 10:00 it was time to take the kids home! We had to practically carry our son out of the house and he had more candy in tow! Where was it all coming from?

We got home and gave them baths because they were horribly STICKY! Off too bed and to night night land! Henley went straight to sleep, but the other one took a little longer! I was kind of glad that they were up so late because of Day Lights Savings time! I thought that would help them sleep late in the morning, but no such luck! Oh Well! Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

Here are some pics from Christian dresing up at school for trick-or-treating too that Friday.

Happy Belated Birthday!

My sister has been in town this past week for a work conference from Indianapolis. Unfortunately, she had missed Henley's 1st birthday and wanted to celebrate with her while she was in town. Heather came over and spent the night last Thursday with us and we had a fun time celebration! I knew it would be crazy because chocolate + children = up late (at least with Christian)!!! The children had pizza for dinner and then helped Heather make the cupcakes! Henley had to have a cupcake and a candle to go with her party! I think they ate more chocolate batter before the cupcakes than after them!:) I of course did not let them eat the batter with raw eggs in it!!! I know what you other mommies are probably thinking.

Henley had her cupcake and her brother helped her blow out the candles! She loves her sweets! I think her Aunt Heather discovered the right way to little Henley's heart! Before bath time we opened her gift and she did it all by herself for once! We played awhile and then it was off to bed! I was glad that they got to spend some time together! Henley is definitely warming up to Heather and even let her hold her ( a big thing for those that know Henley)! We had a great time and enjoy the pictures! Thanks Aunt Heather for celebrating with me it was so special!
