It is ridiculously HOT already in Birmingham this June and I think the best place to be is in the water. Although I believe that the pool water is just as warm as our baths are at night! However, it beats the alternative of sitting out in the heat. Christian and I spend most of our afternoons at the neighborhood pool or on his water slide. Christian is still doing his ISR(infant swimming resource) class and is not allowed to wear any life vest, floatation devices or anything else! Christian is in love with the pool and every time we drive by he says, "pool, pool" and when we leave he says, " bye bye pool"! We have to be careful because he is fearless in the water and thinks he can swim already. The ISR class is more of a survival class and teaches them how to survive if they fell into a pool! They learn a swim, float, swim sequence at his age. He has mastered the swimming part after a week of working on the kicking! He apparently thought you could just glide to the side of the pool!?? He is know learning to float on his back and is not to happy about it. He is really stubborn (imagine that) and refuses to do the floating! He wants to turn over and swim to the bar they provide. The bar is supposed to be like the side of a pool. A point to know where they can get out and be safe.
This is Christian's 4th week of lessons and it is amazing how much he has learned! I am going to post some video of different weeks, but I do not know how much you can tell from them. Do not be alarmed at his fussing he is just pissed off that we are making him do this against his will and not on his terms! Watching in person is the most fun and he has people come and provide support each week. Brian and my mom come when they can and my sister has even been once. It is great to have a cheering section to encourage how well he is doing! He is very dramatic in the water because he gets mad and does not want to be in a pool with a stranger! I do not blame him! He is like a switch and once he gets out of the water he stops fussing! I did not like it at first, but now it is just mama drama! He is doing this because I am there watching! When we go to the pool there is no drama and all he wants to do is jump, jump and jump into the water! We have to be careful because he will jump even if you are not looking! We are about to be near water for 2 weeks straight and it still makes me nervous. The class is 6 weeks long and will just have ended when we leave, but some kids need to go longer. Christian will be one of those because he has had some set backs with not kicking, being sick and the floating issue. Even when he is done with his classes there is still nothing safer than the watchful eye of mommy and daddy! Check out more about ISR at http://www.infantswim.com/ Enjpy the videos! I do not know why it is so blurry????

He is doing AWESOME!!! What a great swimmer. Tell Brian great job on the "warm up".. too cute. And, I think my nephew prefers to do the backstroke instead of float! :) Love to you all.
He looks like a little frog swimming under the water...I love it!
