Little Miss Sassy

Henley has been attending Primrose the past 2 and 1/2 years. I have to be honest and say, mostly out of convenience for me. When Christian was there, it made sense to have them in the same school. Once Christian graduated to Kindergarten, I kept her there because she would take naps for them and it was extended hours...until 3:00pm. I know that sounds like a long day for a 3 year old, but the nap thing was a huge plus for me. I love my daughter with all my heart, but Henley without a nap can be somewhat challenging to say the least!

This year I have been very disappointed with Primrose as a whole. They are supposed to be an outstanding school with a curriculum that has won many awards. I do not feel that we were getting our moneys worth and believe me...it was a lot. The problem lies in Henley's birthday. She was born in October and will forever be one of the oldest in her class. I was given the choice to push her forward last year and I did. She was in a class with children that were up to a year older than she was. I did not think it was a big idea, but looking back maybe it was a bad idea. This year she was in the pre-k class and with a teacher that I adore. Going into this class she was not as prepared as she should of been and because of that she has struggled. I know it is the job of the parent as well as the teacher working together to teach. Last year was a little crazy and I must admit I was not on top of things, as I should of been. In and out of the hospital with the pregnancy and on limited activity the whole pregnancy kind of took precedence over everything. I failed as her parent last year...big time.

This year she just did not seem excited about school and nor did she seem to care about learning either. After a few months I decided to take her out and try something new, somewhere new. Wow! I have seen such a change in this little girl. Every day she is excited to go to school and see her new friends. She loves her teacher, Mrs. Anne Rae and I could not be happier.

Liberty Pals is in a Baptist Church, so it has a faith based curriculum. They go to chapel twice a week and pray in their class. Henley gets to wear whatever she wants, takes her lunch to school, goes on field trips and is a part of programs during the holidays. These are things that for the past two years made me sad that she was missing out on. I don't get the naps anymore, but I can deal with that. When I see the smile on her face everyday, I know I made the right decision.
Henley has already gone on a field trip with her class to see a Christmas Show at the Children's Theatre. She has the best time ever! Here is a picture at her very first field trip that her teacher sent me.

First Field Trip

On her very first day of school I wanted to walk her into class and she told me, "no". She said, " I can walk in like all the other kids do, by myself." I said, " Hen are you sure? You don't even know where you are going." Henley said, " I can figure it out...and besides when I get there all the kids are going to hug me!"

Got to love the confidence. Here is the picture I snapped quickly before she ran off to start her new school! Sweet Girl!
